Venous Ablation

Radio frequency Venous Ablation is a minimally invasive procedure for treating vein incompetence (leaking valves) which is an underlying cause of varicose veins.

Under ultrasound guidance, your leg will be anesthetized with a local anesthetic agent. A small catheter is inserted into the defective vein through a tiny incision. The treatment is then completed by delivering radiofrequency energy causing the vein wall to heat, collapse, and seal shut.

Once the vein is sealed shut the blood flow will not be able to flow backwards and a marked improvement of varicose veins, swelling and leg pain should be experienced. Patients can usually return to normal activity the next day.

If you are interested in the treatment or learning more about it please ask one of our Cardiologists or call our office at 814-942-2411.
