Pulmonary Vein: Transports oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart’s left atrium
Septum: Divides the right and left sections of the heart
Vena Cavas: The two main veins that return deoxygenated blood to the heart. The superior vena cava returns blood from the upper body, and the inferior vena cava returns blood from the lower body.
Pulmonary Artery: Carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs
Aorta: The main artery in the body; Receives oxygenated blood from the left ventricle
Right Atrium: Receives spent blood from the veins
Aortic Valve: Located between the left ventricle of the heart and the aorta; Connects the heart to the circulation system of the body
Mitral (Bicuspid) Valve: Located between the left atrium and ventricle; Controls blood flow between these two chambers
Pulmonary Valve: Located between the heart and the lungs; Controls blood flow between the right ventricle and the lungs
Tricuspid Valve: Located between the right atrium and ventricle; Controls blood flow between these two chambers
Left Ventricle: Pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body
Left Atrium: Receives oxygenated blood from the arteries
Right Ventricle: Pumps spent blood to the lungs to be oxygenated
